Clean Power from the WindChina is racing ahead of projected wind power construction and by the end of this year will have reached 10GW. In April this year the National Development and Reform Commission had revised its 11th Five Year Plan Period for wind power development, doubling it to 10GW by 2010. Estimates now put total installed capacity at 20GW by 2010.

Massive wind farm project are underway and planned right across the breadth of China where there is an estimated 230,000,000 kWH potential to be tapped.

There is also advanced research and development for wind MagLev (magnetic levitation) generators. This technology is projected to increase wind energy generation capacity by up to 20% by eliminating energy loss from friction. Maglev generators will also need way less acreage to create higher power yields, so if they come into play in a big way China and the rest of the world will have to revise potential wind power production figures.
